This is a couple of days old, as I didn’t do picks yesterday, but I want give a shout out to the Detroit Red Wings and their fans. On Tuesday, the Red Wings recorded their 21st straight victory at home, defeating the Dallas Stars 3-1. Detroit was businesslike Tuesday night and handled the Stars from the get-go. How nice it must be to be a Red Wings fan, seeing as how they haven’t lost in front of their fans in over three months.

In more recent news, former Washington Capitals goaltender Olaf Kolzig was quoted as saying that perhaps Alex Ovechkin is getting too wrapped up in his rock star status. He also mentions the more probable reason for Ovechkin’s decline, namely the absence of Nicklas Backstrom. The rock star status issue is an interesting idea, as how an individual handles success and fame is quite telling.

Tonight the NHL is out in full force with seven games being played. I’ve made a couple of picks for your enjoyment, but only if you’re a member. Sign in now to check out my picks or sign up for an all-access membership ASAP.
